Wonderful Birthday Card

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back! I have a Wonderful Birthday Card to share with you today. A nice bright yellow, purple and green kind of Wonderful. The paper used here is from Kaiser Craft and it’s both the front and back of one design called Lilac Avenue. I also happened to have a small stamp of the same type of flower, and as I made a mess on the sentiment while sponging with dirty fingers, it was lucky I had that stamp to cover up the mess!!!

P1030248

I’ve hand made some flowers to match using cardstock and my hand crimper. Very easy to do, simply concertina fold a strip of card or paper and pinch at one end to make a fan shape. Cover the base and glue some stamens in behind them. The sentiment is a free digi from Birds Cards and I’ve sewn a couple of layers together underneath it.

P1030250

The Stampin Up little leaves sizzlit came in handy and I used green cardstock and faux stitching around the edges of the leaves. I then used the peice of cardstock the leaves were cut from as a template to draw stitched leaves onto the dp for the inside of the card. A flower was punched from the corner to reveal the next layer colour.

My only gripe with this card, was that I used the sentiment in the wrong direction on a gate folded card base and I cannot stand this card up and read it at the same time!

P1030252
Oh well, nothing is perfect.
It does kind of look a bit weird standing the right way up lol!

P1030253

I hope you like it – boo boos and all.

I’ll enter for the following challenges:-

Card Crafters Circle this week has an inspiration photo to use – which is what I did. The bright yellow and the flowers came from this.
Hiding in My Craft Room is Bringing on Spring
Our Creative Corner – Over the Edge
Card Makin Mamas – Birthday
Two Sisters – Anything Goes

Thanks for popping in - I won't be back for a week now as we are expecting my niece to give birth any day - she has had early labor pains and they are keeping her in the hospital to try and keep bub in a bit longer. She is 8 weeks too soon! Keep an eye out for the baby card and photos to come - very exciting times!

Make a Wish Monkey Card

Hi Everyone,

I have another really bright card to share with you today using some Home Made paper.
Yes I’m Using it UP! I’m also using the Mojo Monday Sketch #229 for the layout.

P1030241

This paper was made in a creative moment at Trish’s place last summer, with her and her daughter. I can’t remember the exact process, but I do know we used oil paints floated on a white spirit of some sort (perhaps mineral turpentine?) and dropped the cardstock onto the patterns created by swirling drops of the paints together. Looks fantastic doesn’t it?

I have also embossed the whole background with a swirly embossing folder and swiped it with ink.  I was inspired to do this by the inspiration photo at 4 Crafty Chicks , check out the ceiling of the room in the photo…
4craftychicks inspiration It’s just reminded me of that particular embossing folder.

I have used Monkey B, which was a Freebie from Dustin Pike quite some time ago and I’ve coloured him with copic pens and a little glitter glue. Gotta have sparkle somewhere!

P1030247

The ribbon is from Kaiser Craft and the sentiment is a Stampin Up
sentiment from the set ‘So Many Sayings’.

I’ll be entering the following challenges with him :-

Thanks for popping by and checking out my card.

Bookmark

Hi Everyone,

Back again with a quick share of this bookmark I made

P1030111

I followed the Corner Bookmark Tutorial that was posted on Split Coast Stampers by Beate some time ago, here is a link to it if you’d like to make one too. I like that I can print a step by step instruction sheet from the SCS tutorials. It means I can keep it in my folder of tricks to come back to time and again.

The flower on my bookmark is a Nellies Multi Frame die, it provides all the layers you see here and more! A little glitter and a ribbon to finish.
Such a simple thing to make, yet so useful and it'd make a great gift!

Have a nice day and thanks for looking.

p.s – check out my Blog Candy while your here, you gotta be in it to win it!

Christmas Angel Card

Hi Everybody,

I want to show you is this adorable Christmas Angel Card that I’ve made for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown this week, the theme is Angels of course and here they are…

P1030234

The card as a whole was a little difficult to photograph as no matter which way I turned it I couldn’t get all of the pictures to show without a bit of glare. See what I mean…

P1030233            P1030238

The angels were cut-outs from a magazine, so the paper is a little glossy. There are quite a few layers involved, a doily is right on the bottom and inked in pale green for the background, the edges are distressed and the bird is popped up for some dimension.

P1030235

The bow is a beautiful shiny seam binding ribbon from the Craft Queen and the flowers are Kaiser Craft paper flowers layered up with some pale blue rhinestones – also from Kaiser Craft. The gold sequined ribbon is a scrap from an off-cuts bag from Spotlight.

P1030237

I’ve taken a few photos from different angles to try and catch the beauty on this card. I really love how it turned out, even though it is not something I would normally try.
Hope you like it….I’ll be back with more in the next day or so, at least another two cards to share this week.

Don’t forget to check out my Blog Candy Blogaversary give away, it’d be nice to get it drawn before my next anniversary! lol.

See you next time Smile

Birthday Card for Mojo

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a busy week for me with my 3 year Niece's swimming lessons started, add to that some really exciting news from Trish (which you will have to check out on her blog when she gets the news posted - believe me - you won't want to miss it! ) and my 19 year old Niece buying a car! Needless to say, I’ve not made it into girl world at all until yesterday!

I have a couple of friends having birthdays in the coming weeks, so I’ve started on that theme…

P1030214

I used two different stamp sets here, one is a Stampin Up set called “Sweet Summer“ and the sentiment is from an Annabelle Stamps set called “All Things Grow”.
I’ve made a Birthday card for Mojo Monday this week, this is the sketch…

Mojo228Sketch

There was a bit of fun sewing in crazy lines around the butterflies, which are the Beautiful Wings sizzlit die cuts from Stampin Up.

P1030216

The patterned paper is from Rosie’s Studio and was the basis for my Bright Bold colours on this card.

I’ll enter this card into a couple of other challenges too, like…
If you are into Blog Candy, follow this LINK TO MY CANDY and enter the draw at the bottom of the post, and follow me if you will.

Male Birthday Card

Hi Everyone,
I’ve made this card for John obviously!

Not sure which John – have 3 in our family, so I guess it’ll be first birthday that comes along! lol.

P1030177

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #227, which looks like this…

Mojo227Sketch

I used some Kaiser paper that had nuts and bolts all over it, and also had the stamp set from that collection, so made a couple of feature panels with those. The band across the front is also stamped with that set – a ruler pattern.

P1030183

The little JOHN beads are threaded onto some twine and I’ve used some little metal clips as a feature, held on with brads.

I’ve decorated he inside again – it shows the lovely nuts and bolts paper a bit  better, along with another stamped ruler, just for fun!

P1030180

I was amazed to find a challenge theme at Hotshot Craft Blog for a masculine card, so will have to enter it there as well.

Thanks for stopping by

Cheers, Vicki xx

Vintage Valentine Card

Hi Everyone,

Back to treat you with what has to be my favourite card this year so far!
Da Daaaaa….

P1020991

I love the Vintage look and think I really nailed it with this one!

Amazingly enough the only stamped image here is the embossed brown flourish beneath the gold painted frame. The main image is on paper that I bought, it hasn't a brand name on it and I think it came in one of the bulk packs I buy from time to time at my local Sams Warehouse.

Even the inside has been decorated. I used a Nellies Multi-frame die to cut this and the sentiment is embossed in brown and cut out with a scallop spellbinder.

P1020993

Gold paint was dry brushed all over the place on this card. Swiped around edges and completely covering the chipboard frame and on every flower used!

The flowers were all different colours to start, so I painted them to suit. this is a great tip for just about any embellishment that can be painted. Use it Up by making it the right colour!

Here’s a closer look at the painted flowers on the front.

P1020996

You can also see the tiny strip of whole pearl ribbon sticking out under the big flower, which goes with the liquid pearls in the centre of the flowers on the inside of the card.

P1020990

Hope you enjoyed looking at this card – I had a blast making it Smile

I’ll enter it into the following challenges :-

Kisses Card

Hi Everyone,

I saw this image over at The Paper Shelter and just had to have it!
It’s just adorable isn’t it?

P1030137

I’ve coloured using copics, and tried to give the little boy a bit of a blush – which turned into a major flush Smile

P1030139

The image was cut with Spellbinders and layered over the gap. A lovely white satin ribbon to close and a layered flower topped with a massive heart gem!

P1030142

I’ve sewn the panels on to the gatefold card to create some interest and the paper is from My Minds Eye and decorated the inside too. This little heart patterned circle had been floating around my desk for a week or so, it fitted perfectly here! I knew I was keeping it out for a reason.

I hope you enjoy my valentines card, I’ll be entering at…

Have a great week now…Cheers, Vicki xx

Reindeer Christmas Card

Hi Everyone,

I thought I’d better get in early this week with my Christmas Card for the
52 Christmas Card Throwdown as I missed the linky list last week!

Here it is…
P1030172

I’ve used a couple of different stamp sets, The Papertree one I used on the last card for the Reindeers and the bauble, a Crea8tive Life set for the banner and the Christmas sentiment came from another christmas set altogether!

This week it’s a sketch challenge…
52cct Sketch 2

I had a lot of fun with this card. Christmas Card Challenges this week is to make your own background. The reindeers were embossed in gold on cream cardstock and I’ve then sprayed my own home-made glimmer mist all over to create a hazy background in the 3 colours of the card (gold, red & green).
Then I sponged the edges in Burgundy to tie it all in with the base colour.
Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge this week is to Use a Spray, so I’m entering this card over there too Smile

P1030175

The middle layer was dry embossed using a poinsettias folder and some gorgeous gold foil stickers were laid around the edges to finish it all off.

I’ve also decorated the inside with the Kaiser paper that was used at the bottom on the front of the card.

P1030174

I decided to cut a Christmas bauble shape from it, just for fun. Also, I’ll be able to use the circle I cut out on another card. Using It Up is what we are aiming for this year after all.
If you’d like to take the Pledge to Use it Up too – check out Fran’s post HERE.

- Or –

if your more into Blog Candy – Put your name in the linky list HERE for a chance to win mine. Of course if you follow me too – we’ll have a winner faster as it will be drawn when I reach 133 followers! Thanks for stopping by again

Leibster Award

Hi Everyone,

I received a lovely award from fellow blogger, card maker and all round nice crafty person - Mynette from On a Stampage .Thank you so very much Mynette - I gotta say I love the recognition,  who doesn't?

The origins of the Liebster Blog Award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that they originated in Germany. Liebster, meaning-favorite or dearest to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting this award, the recipient must then pass it on to 5 more blogs.

This is going to be hard as there are so very many blogs that I enjoy looking at on a regular basis who have less than 200 followers!

I guess my choices are as follows:-

1. Trish and Treasure - this is a 'no brainer' for me as Trish is one of my bestest friends and also the person who started me off paper crafting! She is my main inspiration and the one person who most challenges me to try different things or just to make anything at all! Thank you for pushing me into it - I have never looked back! (totally sucked into the vortex as your husband would say - Willingly I will add :)

2. Olena's Place - Olena makes the most wonderful cards and I am often popping in to see her stuff. Olena has a distinctive style that I just love and I am surprised she doesn't have more followers.

3. Queen of Grunge - Gerri also has a disctinctive style, although it is very different to Olena's. I really admire Gerri's quirky stamping style and always find inspiration to step outside the square while cruising around her blog.

4.My Stamping Obsession - Martina is a wonderful at colouring digis! She has a number of DT positions up her sleeve and I aspire to be able to colour in like her some day. I also like how Marina embellishes her cards, it's always distressed, layered and balanced beautifully.

5. Anna Christensen Crafts - Anna found and followed me through my blog candy recently and writes lovely comments that always make me feel good. In turn her own blog is quite amazing and she is well deserving of this little appreciation award.

I'm really happy to be a part of this online community of crafty people and ladies, enjoy your awards - you can take the button above too for your blog. It's almost as much fun giving it as it is receiving one!

Cheers,
Vicki xx

White on White Grace

Hello Again, thanks for popping by,

Today I’ve created this gorgeous White on White card for the Card Crafters Circle challenge this week.

A Challenge it was too – I ended up having to use just a little colour (Stampin Up’s Sahara Sand to be precise). I embossed my new Paperbag Studios ‘Grace’ stamp with White embossing powder on White cardstock. She was just a little too hard to see, so I inked over her with the Sahara Sand and I think she looks wonderful!

P1030163

There is quite a bit of embossing on the base layer and I’ve layered two more plain squares behind her to lift her up and define a frame around her. I swiped the edges of these layers with ink too. The Chipboards are set up high too. A border die cut was placed along each side and lost of ribbon & paper flowers were used.

P1030170

It was difficult to take a photo of this card so I’ve taken it with the light in different places for you.

The chipboard letters were painted with white acryllic paint and dabbed over with glitter glue. The beautiful rose ribbon was another purchase I made at the closing down sale yesterday of my favourite and local craft shop.

The Wonderful sentiment was cut out of a digi that was free over at Birds cards. I trimmed the word out and then glued it to a Spellbinder 4 shape. I embossed the whole shape with the word glued in place and it kind of hid the edges where I’d cut around the sentiment and stuck it down.

Word of warning if your going to try this – make sure the glue is dry before you emboss it all together, otherwise the glue squeezes out and it all sticks to the embossing folder in a gluggy mess!

I hope you like my card as much as I do, I’ll enter it at the following challenges as well as Card Crafters Circle’s White on White Challenge, for which it was made.

Christmas Card with Bling

Hi Everyone,

How fun was this card to make, lots of stamping, cutting, embossing, layering and Using It Up of course! The Ho Ho Ho down the front of the card was on a little peice of scrap that I just couldn’t bear to throw out – I knew I’d Use It Up somewhere! lol

P1030158

The sentiment used was given to me by another crafter last year and has been floating around in my Christmas drawer since then.

I have actually been naughty this week and must confess….I bought some stuff instead of Using it Up and blew my pledge! My local craft shop is closing down (boo hoo, we’ll miss Jackie terribly), anyway, there was a HUGE sale happening to clear the stock out of the shop and suffice it say – I helped !

The stamps I used here were one of the items I purchased (at 50% discount – no resisting that). It’s a Papertree set of Christmas stuff and I just love it!
I’ve decorated the inside of the card too. Used up the little scrap of dp left over and stamped another of the stamps in the set inside.

P1030157

Check out all the gems – 52 Christmas Card Throwdown will love this card for their first embellishment challenge – Lots of Gems here girls!

P1030161

I also had been dying to use this little present ribbon topper. I picked up a whole packet of these in different colours last year and this present stamp is the perfect size for them! The present and the glasses are both popped up on dimensionals. A little silver chord was tied into bows for the glasses too.

P1030159

I’ve also done a bit of embossing on this card, the white card was embossed with snowflakes and the red paper was embossed with flourishes.
This card is entered in the following challenges;
When your done pop over to My Blog Candy post if you’d like a chance to win some goodies.
Have a great day!

Round and Square card for Mojo Monday

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been enjoying quite a bit of time out in Girl World after working this week and have completed a few cards. These two I made using the Mojo Monday Sketch #226 as a guide, and I couldn’t decide between Round or Square, so I did both of them!

P1030144
Inside too  …     P1030146

The image above is a digi called Sylfie from The Paper Shelter, who’s challenge this month is “Love is in the Air”.

My copic colouring needs a little help with hair I think, but I really like how the colours blended on the base of the mushroom. I’ve sponged a little ink of over my uneven layers – one of these days I’ll get it to mat down straight!

There is a bow of seam binding ribbon and some gem flowers layered atop a Quick Cuts Flourish that has been coloured with Atyou Spica pen to make it sparkle.

Here is the Mojo Sketch that I used.
Mojo226Sketch

The papers are from an unknown source, but perfect for declarations of love and I used the same paper on both cards – Using It Up of course!

P1030151

The sentiment is a Kaiser Craft stamp from the Love set. I’ve used a paper flower layered with a smaller punched flower and a yellow gem. The leaves are a Martha Stewart punch and the swirly die cut behind the sentiment is a Memory Box woven circle die. The card base is cut with Spellbinder scallop and circle dies.

I hope you like these bright and cheery valentines cards, I guess I’ll be off to find someone to give them to now!

These are the challenges I’ve entered:-
